124 Susp. Experts: Spring pad recommendation
My '91 300E sits too high: It has four-bump pads in the front and three in rear. It is stock except for front and rear Bilstein HDs.
I don't want to install different springs; I just want it to be lowered a bit. It is a family car and often has four-five people in it and occasionally luggage as well. I do want it to be slightly higher in the rear to accommodate the occasional load described above. What would you recommend? Thank you in advance |
Any body?

Go 2 bump front, 2 rear. If rear still too high, put the 1 bumps in, but I bet you won't have to.
This will lower your entire car .5"-.75", and maintain a slight rake. |
Thanks Michael! I was thinking this should be the setup.

Weird that your '91 has that setup? What options do you have? Sunroof? My '91 300E has a sunroof and came stock with 3 bump up front, 2 bump rear. When I changed my springs, I lowered both ends a bump (2 front, 1 rear) and am happy with the results.
Appparently it depends on the weight of the car when it comes off the assembly line with options factored in. Good luck! |
What springs? Stock?
That is what I thought! What were they thinking .... off-road 124? Thanks for your reply. |
