1990 300e Ac/belt
I am a new member. Could any member tell me how do you check: (1) Sepentine belt- sag whether it is acceptable or not (2) what tool do I need to check diagnostic codes?

To check the belt, examine it for chunks missing from the grooves of the belt. Cracks are accepable but not pieces missing. There should be no steel cords showing or protruding from the belt. If the belt is too loose you will be able to spin the pulleys (like the alternater or water pump) by hand. If this is the case, the belt tensioner may be at fault. The tensioner assemblies are a common problem and do wear out. The belt tension is adjustable.

Thanks for your help. I will try to rotate the pulleys today. Any member in Houston, could you suggest a good MB repair shop ( except dealers)?
