Question 95 S500 Aux Fan Problem

With the A/C on, the aux fans cut on and then almost immediately go off . If I disconnect the temp sensor the fans go into high speed and the compressor shuts down. Is this a problem with the resistor?

On another note, I had the tranny rebuilt and when I reinstalled it, it slipped between 2-3 and 3-4. I adjusted the modulator, which fixed the slippage, but now the car seems to shift abnormally hard into 2nd. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Lyndon Tilson

Does your car have 2 white ballast resistors between the 2 aux fans OR is there a thin black tube there?? The 1994 thru 1995 S-class cars had an electronic ballast THAT just didn't work & needs to be modified to the earlier style ballast system.

It has the 2 white ballast resistors. The car was actually low on refrigerant. Once I charged it, the problem was corrected.

Any thoughts on the tranny? Is it possible to adjust the individual shift points when the car is shifting hard during one particular shift (eg. 1st to 2nd)?

Thank you very much for the reply. This forum is great.
Lyndon

The modulator should have the same effect on all shifts! Too harsh of 2nd to 3rd shift means that there is excessive modulator pressure. The special fluid is for earlier cars with harsh engagement into D OR R from neutral ONLY!
