1988 300CE-won't start
 

Hi,
First the car was stalling if you didn't give it gas at all times, especially at red lights. But after 1 or 2 minutes it would start back up. Now it's in our garage and won't start at all. The battery is good, it makes a noise when you turn the key, it just won't turn over. Any ideas on where to start looking?

Starter then fuel pump

Fuel Punp RELAY would be my inclination. Had the same stalling problem when I owned a 1984 190E 2.3. The stock units were not hermetically sealed -- water would get in and corrode the contacts. I'd check this with your mechanic.

where's the relay?
 

i just recently started having very similar stalling issues... was told by my mechanic that it may be the fuel pump relay.
so... a few questions:
-what does a fuel pump relay do exactly?
-around how much $$ for a new one?
-where is it? / how do i get to it?
-is there a way i can determine if it's bad either by visual inspection or by testing it somehow?

i think i've been hearing that buzzing sound too... mostly when i'm accelerating... hmmm
