Noisy Aux fan on 96 E320
 

When the Aux fan is running, i can hear noises coming from it..sounds like a ball bearing is loose somewhere in the fan. with the engine off, i swiftly turn the fan by hand and i can hear the same noise but not as loud. does this mean my Aux fan needs to be replaced?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

With engine off , when you turn the left fan does the right fan turn? If the right fan doesn't turn then the drive belt between the two fans has come off and this may be your noise.If the right fan does turn then you need to check to be sure the fan isn't rubbing on anything.

it is difficult to move aux fan for inspection?
 

when i turn the fan on the driver side the other fan would also turn. So at this point, should i remove the fan assembly and check...will this involve touching the radiator in anyway? Thank you for your answers.
