an easy question what is difference between gear D, 2 and 3

like i mentioned in the subject what is the difference between these gears EXACTLY.

The number is the highest gear that the transmission will use.

In D, the car will use 1, 2, 3, or 4.

In 3, the car will use 1, 2, or 3.

In 2, the car will use 1 or 2.

so if i put it in to 2 then it will not go to the 3rd gear?

DAMN, so that was the reason i hit 110 in the second gear
