replacing fuel filter on a 300E...
Hey everyone. I am having some trouble with my fuel filter on my 1992 300E. I can get the front connecting screw off easy enough, but I can't seem to budge loose the back nut fastner. I tried to use a cheater tube, but I still could'nt break it loose, and I don't want to break something else in the process. Is there a trick to loosening the fastening nut? Thanks.

That bolt is a b*tch to break loose -- I couldn't do it so I just took out the one in my new filter and left that bolt in place.
Make sure you seal both ends with a new copper washer and tighten them down well. Good luck |
Is there a counter-nut affixed to the filter where the line(s) connect? I'm not sure if your vehicle has the M103 or M104 motor - their fuel filters could be similar.
In my case, there's a counter-nut that I can turn CW while I loosen the fuel line connections CCW |
hmmm, interesting, I have the m103 motor. I will try the counter rotating method. I to have been able to break loose the attachement that connects direcly to the fuel pump, but I thought it was a bad thing, so I twisted it back into place. Thanks for the tips, ill try it this weekend!
