Small black "mini fuse box" ?(near main box)

Hello,

On my 92 300e 2.6, i noticed a small 2" wide black box. This was located near the strut tower, to the left of the Main Fuse access box. When the top lid is off this small little box, there are 2 standard looking fuse slots (one of which was occupied with a white fuse). Does anyone know what these fuses are for??

Thanks for all of your help,

Miles

On mine, there is a separate "outrigger" on the shock tower for a 15 amp US-style prong fuse for the aux fans. Not sure what yours is for if indeed it has 2 slots for Euro style fuses.

That would be the A/C/C blower fuse, 30A.

I wanted to revive this thread now that I know this little box has a purpose.

My question is that the wires leading to this mini fuse box are bare. The previous owner said the blower motor had just locked up and had it replaced and it still works fine. I am guessing the damaged wires were from when the old motor was on its last legs, heating up the wires.

Anyone have advice on the best way to repair this before I lose climate control. I would rather just get a new wiring harness for this box if possible. Splicing would seem dubious, as the fried wires seem to continue into the firewall (beyond I can see anyway).

Any help is appreciated!

Jason
