By mistake a gas station attendant put power steering fluid in my power steering reservoir instead of the recommended automatic transmission fluid (checked, it, turned around and he'd filled it with the stuff...).
Will this damage the power steering system? Should I drain it and put ATF fluid in? Thanks in advance. Nicolas ------------------ ---- 1982 300D - http://members.xoom.com/nicodore/ |

I had a 1977 300D that was leaking PS fluid and my mechanic told me to add power steering fluid. If it was the wrong stuff, it didn't hurt anything in the few months that I had the car since then.

Won't hurt a thing. Just don't put P/S fluid in your trans! By the way, all of the newer cars including Mercedes do use P/S fluid instead of trans.
