Question ml 55 speedo.....

I currently own a 1999 ML 430, and would like to upgrade the boring black speedo, for the ML55 white faced speedo... First of all, has anyone done this, and secondly how difficult is it... I've already upgraded my horn to a ML55 horn, sounds fabulous compared to the ridiculous sounding "beep..beep" horn from the 430...any help would be greatly appreciated....thanks...

www.************************ has an assortment of interior goodies for the ML, including the white gauge face kit. They include the tool to remove the needles as well.

I haven't taken mine out yet (too new for me, has to be out of warranty before I start dismantling stuff), but I've read in another post that unlike the "pull-out" types, there are six or so screws to remove before getting the cluster out.

A lot cheaper...but if you are so gung-ho on making yours look like one, you are better off hunting down a REAL ML55!!! Or buy a later model ML Sport, as the body cladding more closely resembles the ML55.

Saw a 2000 ML55 in the local MB used lot for $42K a few months ago...

I have helped one of the salesmen do this to his E320 Coupe. Ended up real nice. Big problem is getting the needles back on correctly, he ended up getting the speedo recalibrated, as he has a bit of a lead foot and wanted it to be very accurate. I would check into doing all of the gauges. This salesman was going to do just the speedo too, looked like crap that way. Problem would be that the ML55 gauges have the chrome trim around them, which is cool looking, don't know if you could buy just that part.
