unit above the air duck
on the dash where the factory phone is installed. as an upgrade .
if the car does not come with factory phone. the space is used as eyeglass holder or small holder of some sort. this is on the left side of glove compartment. the spring to close this unit is broken and in order to get it out first I need to remove the keypad (phone). as you know the phone in this car comes in two units. one (hand set) is between the front seats under arm rest. the other unit which has the keypad installed in the dash above airdock. I have looked around the unit ,but didnot have much luck in finding any screw. any thought is greatly appreciated.

It just slides into the compartment, no screws. You need to devise some sort of a hook tool to pull it out. Maybe try putting a small hook on the end of a straightened wire coat hanger. It's pretty easy once you done one.
If you then want to remove the whole compartment, it can be quite trick to remove it and especially to reinstall it. The whole lock assembly on the right side of the AC center vent needs to be removed first. FYI the compartment that the IDC (in dash controller, the part you want to remove) fits into is caled the "spectacles compartment". Gilly

thank you. I used two filler on the top of the phone to release the unit and used a hook from the side.
You are right it was hard to get the unit back in there. the way i did it was by locking the dash and putting back the unit from it side. thanks again for your input.
