1991 420SEL chokes out at speed

new to this board, did a search, but nothing turned up that addresses this problem. My 1991 420SEL chokes out at speed. If I press the accelerator to the floor, I can get the power back. If it happens at slow speed, it takes awhile to restart. It's an obvious fuel flow problem, but what origin? Fuel pump? Injectors? Intake valve problem? Anybody experience this? Perhaps an "Italian Tune-up" is called for.
