What does this vacuum pump fit? (PHOTO)

What years and models of Mercedes used this Pierburg pump? It came off my '78 Peugeot 504 and I need the repair kits for it. When I looked up a 240D it listed 2 different diaphragm and valve kits that looked like they would fit. I haven't cleaned mine up but do the pumps have some ID numbers with which to order the correct kits? I know if I go into a parts store and say Peugeot they won't even bother to look it up.

HI Joe

I would bet an early 240 (74-79) vacuum diapram kit would work just fine for you. The other respose is right too, a Rabbit diesel would work too. Same guts under the cover. Juat make sure you put the check valves back in the same way they came out or the pump won't work. Napa or the like should be able to get you one I would think.

It does look an awfully lot like the one on my '76 (115 body). Not identical, but close. Best thing might be to take out the valves and diaphragm & match them for size with replacement parts before purchasing. There's nothing high tech here and no "calibration" to speak of (a diaphragm is just a piece of material; valves just bits of steel & plastic), if they fit physically, they'll work. Good luck!
