Scraping noise when turning

I've had this for a while, but I thought I'd get to it now. When I am breaking and turning, I.e. U-turn on the go, I get a scraping sound from the front end. I am guessing its the tire rubbing against the plastic moulding inside the wheel well. I'm trying to ascertain if this is a symptom of anything else that might be wrong and maybe some advice on where else to start looking if so. If it's normal how do I get it to stop short of taking out the moulding?

Braking and turning? No noise when turning and not braking, and no noise braking straight?

No noise when breaking and not turning. No noise when tuning after slowing then turning. The noise comes typically when I'm breaking to make a turn and have started to turn the wheels while still slowing quickly. The car seems to sway forward and back(not up and down) quite a bit if I push on it from the rear when it's parked. New shocks and spheres early this year.

Ken

I don't have a clue. I had the same thing happen on one of my Benzes, but I doubt that you are having this trouble with an S500. Bolts had come loose on my lower front control arm and when I'd brake and turn, the tire actually came back and scraped the front fender.

I'd suggest getting someone to walk beside the car as you brake around a cul-de-sac and see if between the two of you, you can locate the noise and its source. Let me know what you find.

Good idea. I'll see if I can get someone to look and "see" when it happens.
