Replace Bulb in '97 W210 Inside brake Light

Does anybody know how the inside brake light fixture on a '96-97 E car comes loose from the package shelf? I pushed in on the two tabs and mine seemed to lock into place. Now I can't budge it. Does it lift up or does it slide to towards the seat back?

The 2 tabs must be "pulled" out & then the cover will come off so that you can replace the bulb.
