Can anyone tell me how to get into the dash console to replace the bulb that lights the gas/oil pressure gauges? I have an 89 300se.

The whole gauge cluster just slides out of the dash. It is a friction fit. MB sells a tool for it or you can make your own. i will see if I have a picture of them. It is basically 2 hooks with a handle on it. You will have two bulbs at the top rear of the cluster that light your gauges.

300 se bulb
Thanks for replying. If you can find the picture, that would be great. Also, if you can give me instructions on where to look for placement of the tools and the process for pulling it out, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch!

300 se dash bulb replacement
thanks again for the pics and information. I used a metal wire handle out of an old plastic bucket. It had the tips of the wire bent at a 90 degree angle and had a ball tip on it. I cut the wire in 2 exact pieces and the tried it. The dash slid right out with no problem and in 3 minutes I had the bulb(s) replaced and the dash unit back in place.
