96 e320 Service bulletin

.

It's almost time for me to bring the car for transmission oil change 60k.I read that there's a service bulletin issued(i can't find the thread anymore) that the dealer needs to put a magnectic thing on the transmission oil pan prior when you change the filter, oil. Is this true?could somebody confirm this.Donnie, mbdoc,Gilly?

That would be on the 1997 & later E320's with the 722.6 transmission.

Best course of action would be to find out why the check engine light is on, as this definitely can't be considered "normal". The check engine light can be coming on due to a fault in the transmission, I guess I'd reserve comment on the shift until I knew why the check engine light is on.
