The monobelt on my '92 500E squeals during gear changes. Also, the A/C seems to be cutting out, but then returns after a brief hiatus. My dealer's adjusted the tension of the 3-month-old belt twice, and it's loose again. Dealer recommends changing the tensioner, which I intend to do on Friday. Could this belt be causing the A/C problem too? Other than the occasional squeal, I've noticed no other noisees that would lead me to believe the belt was continually slipping. Thanks!

The tensioner is known to go bad on occasion. Also be sure that they check the operation of the aux fan for the A/C. I have seen many of the wiring fail for the aux fan.
