Question 190 5speed for 240d?

Does anyone know if the 5-speed manual trans installed in the 190d will mate with the 616 diesel from A '74 240d? I'm frustrated with the high revs I get with my 4-speed and the thought occured to me that maybe a transplant would work. Failing that I may have to seek out a euro 5-speed from the same era. Anyone have one?
Thanks for your help

WON'T fit at all!! There are some 5-speed transmissions out there that will fit from "EURO" cars. I had a 1981 280E that I converted from auto trans to 4-speed from 240D then found a 5-speed from EURO 300D.
