140 self leveling shocks/springs trouble ????
Hello...Please offer some helpful advise. I have a 93 500SEL .apprx 130k
Trouble is I hear a sqeaking noise from the left rear side . The cars ride is fine, but when city driving the noise is quite prominent. On the expressway the noise is a lot less, unless I hit a pretty good bump. Would this be considered a spring or shock problem? Also when I push down on then left rear side I can duplicate the trouble everytime but I don't have enough experience to tell where the noise is coming from . Thanks for any help

sounds VERY similar to what i had on my right rear.after exhaustive investigations i/we found it to be the bushing that the bottom bolt to subframe area.it seems the rubber inside the bushing dried up and becomes noisy.an easy(?) and cheap way to fix this would be to remove old bushing and press in new one.as yet i have been unable to locate someone to do it.the alternative is to replace shock($$) and so i'm not giving up on the first option.as i say this was what i found with my car,let me know how you make out
