Codes/I've searched

My check engine light came on last night. I pulled the codes:

P 0300
P 0303
P 0306

and the EGR
P 0400

Is this the infamous EGR fault code where I need to clean the port of the carbon buildup?

The car runs fine. I changed the coils, plugs, and wires last week. Why would misfire codes come up now? I asked a question that got no reply last time about the allen bolts that secure the ignition coils down on the exhaust side. If they are not tight at all could that affect the ignition coils from firing correctly? Will it harm the car to drive it short distances until I can look over it tomorrow?

Thanks for the info.

Jason

Normally misfire codes P0 30(?) mean that the ignition system for those cylinders are at fault. ie: spark plugs, coils, & saprk plug wires OR connectors.

The P0 400 means that the EGR system didn't allow enough recirculated exhaust into the intake durning decel to lower in intake vacuum. ie: partially plugged metal tube from EGR valve to intake.

Thanks MB DOC. I suspected as much on the EGR code. I'll take care of that tomorrow.

Why do you think the codes would come up a week after I replaced all the ignition parts? Should I clear the codes and see if the CE comes on again for the misfire(s)?
Thanks

HAS the engine wiring harness been replaced?? ALL 1995 cars came with bio-degradable insulation on the wires & many mis-fire codes come from this problem!!

It's a 94. It hasn't been replaced. I know it's coming eventually too. I guess it's just a matter of time. I'd rather take care of it now, before the harness takes anything out.

All 04/92 thru 08/95 cars have the BIO-degradable wiring!! That does include your car.

when you say all '92-'95 cars do you mean ALL CARS or all c-class cars:eek:

I know DOC I know....it's a bummer for sure. I cut open the wrap sometime back and inspected it. It looked ok, but some of the outside of the insulation looked "dusty", maybe it was begining to break down? Will Mercedes consider a good will if there is no other signs yet? If I'm just pulling misfire codes I wonder if that would be enough? I'd be willing to drive a couple of states away if I had to (do that to get goodwill). Thanks again.
