Coolent Level Sensor on W124

Anyone have their coolent level indicator on even though you have plenty on antifreeze. I've heard on W124 owners reporting this problem before, can someone actually tell me if replacing the sensor solved the problem.

Thanks, Yury

it's fairly common. if you pull the connector off then the light should go out. mine started doing that - i cleaned the terminals and put some gel lubricant on it. that took care of the problem. if that doesn't work, you'll have to replace the sensor...

This is the sensor that goes right into the canister ? Well I cleaned the conector, but it didn't help. I guess I need to buy one, do know the part# by chance and $ ?

thanks, Yury

nope, sorry - never got to that point. one thing though, when i cleaned mine, it was ok for a few minutes then came back on again. i read a post about applying some silicone gel on it which i tried and it worked...

i recently replaced mine because it had kind of corroded.

the part and [i believe] 2 pins was only around $5.00.

that was at the "stealership"!

i'm sorry i can't find my receipt right now for part numbers.

call phil here at parts shop, it'll probably be less

Thumbs up

Phill at Fastlane has it for $22. I'm going to get it, kind of tired of looking at that yellow light

Ragards to all, Yury

Funny this thread came up!

My wife alerted me to the same thing last night, and I had sufficient coolant as well.

I inspected the connector and cleaned it a bit, and the light wasn't on when I drove to work.

I didn't do the thorough silicone cleaning necessary, so I expect to see the yellow glow soon.

g-benz,

mine was acting up during the summer. the 93's do seem to act in unison don't they? it was stubborn too - resisting a couple of cleanings. i had even put some other type of lubricant on it - didn't work. the silicone one i got from RS did the trick though and it hasn't acted up since.

cheers

I cleaned mine once with elictric wire cleaner and the light went away for some time, then it came BACK. $27 shipped is not that bad.

Regards,Yury

you'll need needle nose pliers, preferably bent or circlip retractors to get it out of the expansion tank. i was getting ready to do it when the problem cleared up...
