Need Honda Advice
I am looking for a similar site for Honda's. I am doing the brakes on my wifes Del Sol and can't seem to get the pistons in far enough to mount them on the calipers. I used a C clamp but don't want to ruin them. Anyone know?

I believe the pistons on Honda's need to be turned (clockwise ?)to retract them, I still have the book for my old Prelude, I will check later this night when i get home from work.
Here I did a search and found this site. http://www.honda-tech.com/ Last edited by RockyS; 10-07-2002 at 05:58 PM. |

Yeah, those pistons must turn clockwise instead of counter-clockwise because Japan is the other side of the International Date Line!
Sorry for the Wise Acorn comment, I just couldn't help it. Good luck with your repair, |

Steve, I checked the Prelude book and it said nothing about turning the pistons, must have been the Toyota, hope you got it fixed.

piston
steve, I done brake job on my accord many time, I think they all made the same way. The two bolt that hold the caliper that you are having trouble need to be line up to the center, you may need to jigging up and down to get it align . hope this help!

Steve,
I believe you want to get the pistons in far enough to mount them on the rotor not caliper since the piston is part of the caliper. I have done several brake jobs on my Accord and always use a C-clamp to draw in the piston without any problems. I make sure that the C-clamp is centered in the piston. You might want to remove the brake fluid reservoir cap since the brake fluid level will rise as you draw in the piston. Hope this helps.
