We just bought a 1983 280SL (Euro model, 5 speed. no a/c) from the original owner who imported it from Germany. It has 76,000 miles on it and is in good shape, but it hasn't been driven much in recent years. I am in the process of bringing it up to spec with fluid changes and other routine maintenance. I would appreciate any pointers or tips about this car/engine from people who are familiar with it.
The only problem it has that I am aware of is a stumble on acceleration when cold. It starts and idles fine, and runs fine when it warms up. |

You have a Great car!! The most likely cause of stumble is incorrect fuel pressuse durning warm-up. If the car hasn't been driven as stated then the Warm-up Compensator is the likely culprit.
