Timing Chain Problem

I'm a new Benz owner who, wanting to keep my car in top condition, just had my timing chain, timing chain tensioner, and rails changed at 105,000 miles. The problem is the car is smooth as a whistle, but idles higher now than when I brought it in - at 950 rpms versus 750 before bringing it in. I could live with that, but the main concern is the car has no power, either on low end or high end, when you floor it and hit the button, no passing gear kicks in. I called the shop as soon as I returned home, to let them know my dilemna. They assured me that if the timing was one tooth off it would run rough as if you had a couple of bad plugs. All I know is that the car had lots of power when I dropped it off, and now it it has NO power. Could something in the timing or cam settings be causing this, even though it still runs smooth? If someone has any answers, or experience in this type of problem, I would be most appreciate of any help and/or advice.

To my first post I forgot to tell everyone the car is a 1989 420 SEL. My question is the lose of power, could it be a vacuum line or something. Is there anything around behind the powersteering pump or alternator that you have to remove to access the front for a timing chain job? If the lose of power affects the transmission would it not shift into passing gear. Its almost like a smooth running engine that you seriously retard the timing on. But the idle RPM is up to 950 from the previous 750 RPM idle. Could this be a vacuum line again? Thanks again folks for your response, and help.

Check the vacuum line running to the ignition unit. The ignition unit is near the ABS brake pump unit near the power steering pump. If the manifold vacuum is not connected it will not advance the ignition timing properly.

Could you believe it a piece of linkage for the transmission was missing and the shop owner snaped it back on and now the engine knows what the trannys doing. Before no power low or high just soft quick shifts. I asked what that was doing off and he didnt really have an answer. Does this useally come off with a timing chain Job? Anyway I left it to address the idle being up 200 to high for me. I guess the chain job will turn out to be A OK afterall. No vacuum lines loose that I could find.
