Water leak, Somewhere?! Affects sound system. (Gilly!)
Ok, for the past few months now... after washing my car, my radio seriously acts up for a number of hours after. And it happens EVERY TIME.
Ok, I wash my car. Then get in, and the driver's side front speakers (door & dash) make loud popping sounds for atleast 3 hours after it's been washed. I will usually just unplug the 2 speakers until the problem clears. So obviously water is leaking into the car somewhere, and screwing with the sound system. However, I have been unable to find ANY wetness in the trunk, behind the lining on the driver's side, where the BOSE Amp is located. Everything seems just fine. I also have checked the driver's door & door seal for leaks. NONE. Where else could this leak be? I plan on pulling out the entire trunk lining, running water around the trunk drainage/ rear window gutter, and thoroughly checking for any leakage as well. Again, the stereo starts working again properly about 3-6 hours after being washing the car. Gilly, I recall you telling a similar story with a 98 C280... can you give me any ideas? Thanks!! |
I found this post of mine from awhile back. Similar stereo problems occurred about a year ago, but disappeared a few days later.

David:
Is the popping sound from all the door speakers, or just one of them? Could water be getting into a crack in the speaker wiring insulation from one particular door? |
