1973 450SEL Decision !

I checked out a very nice 450SEL today, you know the story current owner has owned it for 28 years garaged, books records, runs and drives very nice However after the test drive today we noticed trans. fluid under the car, and a good amount. It seemed to be coming from inside the housing around the torque converter but I could be wrong. I am trying to decide wether or not to buy it with this problem. Does anyone know what this may be? Asking price 1500 negotiable.. I was definitely going to buy it until we noticed the fluid.....Help please..

I'd get a ppi before I made an offer.

It doesn't bother me that the car has a problem. It is 30 years old, and there will probably be several things to look after.

I'd just want to know what it is going into and what it's going to cost to fix it, and use this against they guy to get him to lower the price.
