126 Anti-theft alarm problem
I have a problem with my 1985 500SEL:
Since I have had the car, the alarm never worked. So today while working on another problem, I noticed that the connectors inside both front doors were disconnected. Eureka!! I thought, connecting them back. Famous last words... Now the alarm cannot be disarmed. Also, the external lights do not flash unless the headlight switch is on one click to the right or either click to the left. I had to disconnect the alarm control box to get it to shutup. Is there a problem with the control box? Does the car work normally with it disconnected?

The 126 CD does show a connection to the external lights from the anti-theft module, so it sounds like a bad module. My 126 ran 100K miles with the module disconnected (before I replaced it with a working module) with no obvious problems (including theft )
