s420 trunk closer
 

the automatic closer on my 99 s420 will not close all the way. I can flip the red manual lever and the trunk will close completely. Any ideas on how to repair. I have heard you can remove a fuse and the unit will reset. Comments, thanks

There are two fixes one to replace the vacum-pump located over the driver side rear wheel, next to the gas tank pricey item. There was also abulletin to reroute some vacum from the other closing pump under the seat I hah mine done when the first option quit, and the factory absorbed it the handle now goesin as it pulls down rather than a few seconds later $600

the fuses are usulyy a temp fix. at one time I was going to put in a push button to reset. BTW mine failed the second time I complained so bad they covered it under warranty
