420 vs 560
I have a 1991 420 SEL (199,000) and my wife has a 1991 560 SEC (73,000). While my car has many more miles, it has been well maintained and is very reliable yet I am amazed at the significant differance in power and torgue my wife's car has. Compared to my 420 sedan, her coupe flys. Since I am interested in picking up a 1991 560 SEL sedan (partial to the 126 sedan), can I expect the same differance? I've never driven a 560 SEL sedan.

Hey......
Its amazing what 1.4L will do!

Part of the equation may simply be the different size cars. A SEL is definetly larger/heavier than the SEC.

420 SEL is 201HP VS the 560 SEC's 238 HP!
0-60 mid-eight secs VS 0-60 low sevens. The 560SEL is a few 10ths of a second slower than an SEC. Not sure if the final drive is the same (?) More ponderous than the SEC, but still a competent performer for such beast. Imagine the 420 on steroids ;) |
