Upgrading Stock Alternator on '95 E420 to 140 Amp Version - Possible???

On the '95 S420, the alternator is 143 AMPs. Can the stock '95 E420 alternator be changed out to the S420 version without any modification?

I've found the Bosch version for $290 + $75 core for a new one; how does this price sound?
