ABS fuse for 1990 190E 2.6?
I want to do some non-ABS panic stops in the 1990 190E 2.6. So I thought, "hey, I'll just pull the ABS fuse."
Oops. Popped the fuse box cover, and no ABS fuse. Is there one? |
No one knows how I can disable the ABS?
|
did you ever figure this out?
did you ever figure this out?
I am hoping to do the same. |
Nope.

Pull the big plug from the ABS control module. That will stop it!
|
I thought of that. On our 190E, it's "hardwired" and there is no plug. The harness runs off into another harness, and I see no way of disengaging it. I was hoping to fins a fuse of some sort, but I have had no luck with that...

Get a faulty OVP or pull it out of there. This will definitly disengage abs BUT also the ECU. Emission control is all mechanical. It's drivable..before pulling the ovp, take your car for a run and warm it up. In warm condition "limp home" mode will be quite near emission control. Especially on w201 newer than 87.
BUT this is probably not recommendable You'll have to get someone to confirm this...On the models with two fuses; is one use for abs an the other ECU?! |
The ABS computer is located behind the OVP, next to the CIS ECU. You could disconnect it there. But why?

The ABS sensors are shot, and it's durned cold here, so crawling around to swap them out isn't an option for a a few weeks at least, until I can get some "inside" work space.
With the sensors broken, the ABS engages at crawling speeds, and makes the car terribly uncomfortable to drive. Once or twice, the ABS light came on, disabling the ABS. Presto! Much nicer. So, I thought, if I could disengage the ABS until repairs can be made, it would be nice... |
