92 300 CE (California) Check engine light

I got a 92 300 CE (California)about a week ago.... It has the Check engine light on.. I figured out how to get a reading and got an 8.. Checked with several friends and they have different answers to what it means.. I have the CD on the way but both friends say it will not help.. So will Call MB to get the Code book..

But would like to know what the 8 means so I can look into it with the other stuff I am working on....
