Is there a OEM Auto-Dimming Rear View Mirror for a '95 E420???

After searching the posts I couldn't find a clear, decisive answer for this... So, is the an OEM MBZ auto dimming mirror which would work on a '95 E420/320???

From what I can tell, this was an option on the C-Class, but not the E-Class. I'm assuming it was because they would have had to re-design the console/light pod.

I know there are some after market versions, but I want something that mounts into the existing console. Also, after looking at the after market versions, I don't think the install would look factory. With that, said if somebody has done an after market conversion using the existing console, I'd love to some pictures of the end result.

Thank you,

John

Really...?... I didn't think that options was available on the E's until the newer body style. Well, one call to the dealer tomorrow should clarify that. If it is that easy I'll feel pretty stupid about this post!!! Thanks.

Mine is definitely manual.

It has a little tab to flip when the car behind you is blinding you. I would love to have an OEM replacement. Thanks for asking the question.

You need optional mirror p/n B6 6 81 8602, manual adjustment, and automatic glare control. Standard mirror for 95 W124 is p/n 201 810 0417.

Well what do you know - you can do this! Called the dealer today and the parts department quoted $268.94. The mirror is black - which is fine for me since my interior is black. In comparison, the after market units run between $150 to $200 (with temp & direction), so $268 doesn't sound nearly as bad as I expected.

Has anybody ever installed one of these? In one of the posts (I think it was from Denmark???) it sounded like you connect two wires and botta-bing-botta-boom.

Anyway, before I pull the car apart and realize I did something really bad (ie. expensive), any input or warnings would appreciated. And thank you myarmar.
