Just wanted to know if this is a technical or problem area with mercedes's S-class with the 3liter engine and automatic tranny. My 300 Sel with 109k miles often on moderate acceleration or barely touching the accelerator pedal lurches forward suddenly and the rpm's increase by 500..is this a problem that is correctable or a service issue. All fluid and maintenance have been changed per maintenance schedule. Reminds me of a vacuum problem I had with the tranny on an old ford Granada (moderator)..Does Mercedes transmission have similar problems or is this something else???

You are feeling the car downshifting into first gear under accel. This is normal with this car. The price you pay for small reliable engine in big heavy but very comfortable car.
