95-E320 cleaning EGR passages

Can the egr passages of the 104 motor be cleaned without removing the intake manifold? I know a carboned egr is a common problem. The DIY section only shows how to clean the C280. I don't feel comfortable just running a cable to knock the crud off. Is there a way to disassemble the related parts for more thorough cleaning without removing the intake? My car is in storage for the winter season. I'd like to do this before it may become a problem and I'm willing to go the extra effort for thorough cleaning.

While I'm at it, I'd like to know how to clean the throttle body. I just got this car last summer, and I have a feeling a lot of these things have never been done.

The accumulation that causes restriction is usually right where the EGR pipe enters the lower manifold. The accumulation appears to be oil laden crankcase gases depositing their oil onto the hot EGR openning.

Most any way you attempt it you will send some of the carbon into the intake. If you saw the inside of the intake you would realize that the small amount that you could add will be inconsequential. If you are worried amount the stuff inside the manifold search for x66 in the archives.

Almost all of the MB techs that I know ARE now replacing the metal pipe(M104 & M112 engines) INSTEAD of cleaning it.

to mbdoc /egr pipe

i have asked this before , what is involved in replacing the pipe,
there is one bracket at the rear of the head that is impossible to remove
how do you attack this bracket , when the rest of the brackets are straightforward to remove
