Outside ambient temp display & sunroof
I have a 1987 420 SEL. My outside ambient temp LCD is about half black. I have purchased a replacement LCD, but I'm not sure how to change it. Do you have to remove the instrument cluster, or can you reach it from the bottom? I have recently purchased this car with 138,000 miles. The sunroof will only open about 6 inches, then stops. You can still hear the motor run, but the roof does not proceed. When it closes, one side appears to close before the other, resulting in a small gap, which can be corrected by moving the sunroof switch back and fourth a few times. Any ideas what may be my problem and how to correct? Thanks!!

Yes, you have to remove the instrument panel, but that is extremely easy. It just pops out as a unit.
I have a similar problem with the sunroof. Most likey it is probably needed cleaned and adjusted. You can DIY. Open it about half way and remove the headliner piece. You shoud see a cable. Remove the cable and try to manually move it back and forth. If it slides easily, it is your cable; if it does not, take the rails off and clean them.
