After reading one of the articles at this site, I have decided to change the coolant on the wife's 560SL ('87). Although I have a CD manual, repair instruction 20-010 doesn't tell one HOW to flush the system.
Since there is no cap directly on the radiator, I would think that one might disconnect the top hose to flush and possibly partially refill the system. However, the thermostat would block most of any flush pressure/flow. Also it seems like it would take a long time to refill the system through the little hose coming from the overflow tank). I must be missing something obvious. Bob Cavazos [This message has been edited by Bob Cavazos (edited 08-06-1999).] |
You can drain the radiator and the block on the Mercedes 116/117 engines then refill with new coolant.
