w126 "twitching"

when I am travelling at a slow speed such as 40km/hr the car wiggles back and forth (left to right) from the frontal portion of the car. I have noticed this happening in old cars and call it the "old car disease". Its something with the suspension, what could it be?

First choice: Bad tires, the belts are coming loose.

Second choice: Bad bushings in the rear control arm or rear subframe.

Third choice: Rusted out rear control arm.

The first is the cheapest, last is the most expensive.

its the tires for sure cause the car has no rust anywhere at all.

DAMN. The tires are still new? They are a cheaper brand though.:(

My indie mechanic has seen three W126 chassis cars in the last four months with rusted out rear control arms. Not associated with rust anywhere else, just the control arm. You will have to crawl under and take a look.

Cheap tires can go bad in a very short time -- had one last less than six months on the Volvo (wasn't what I thought it was, didn't go back to that tire dealer again).
