Dash lights
Just lost the light on the left side of the instrument panel on my 1988 300 CE.. above the gas/oil/temp guages...
What's the likely problem... bulb? fuse?.. What's the fix? Any ideas guys ?? Thanks, Jim |

Well if only one light went out on the dash and the rest of it still works, I would say it's a bulb. If it was a fuse, then I would assume the whole dash would go out. Since the W124 dashes are similar to my 126's, you have to pull the instrument cluster to replace the bulb. Both my bulbs are attached to the speedometer unit, so if yours is the same, unscrew the speedo unit, pop it out and the bulbs are right there inside the plastic housing. Hope this helps.

Most likely a bulb; on my '95 E420, fuse #5 controls the gages - and you'll lose all of them if the fuse blows. Check your fuses first and if they look good, most likely the bulb. But before pulling apart your dash; I'd check every other light and electric control to make sure they are working correctly (the dash light could just be symptom of something else).
