I have recently replaced the power steering belt on my 1983 M110 and it is
has gradually become more noisey over the last couple of months.
If I spray water on the belt it quietens down for a minute and then goes
squeaky again
It is tensioned correctly.

Anyone else had a similar problem ??

The belt was either dry when you got it or you sprayed some soap or degreaser on the engine that dried out the rubber on the belt.
