I am building a 16v turbo motor for my 1987 190E-16V! I can't wait to get started. Any suggestions are wanted! It will be seen on MercedesShop in detail!

Benzmac-
Curious...are you going to use a US-spec 2.3 to start with, or did you decide on a different motor? Didn't they come as 2.5-16s in Europe? In any event, you'll be dropping the compression, I presume; will you drop it a bunch and plan on heavy boost, or keep compression near stock and limit the boost? I'm sure a bunch of us are eagerly awaiting this endeavor...sounds like a cheap vicarious thrill for us, and if you can pull it all together for reasonable dollars then, heck, maybe I'll try it? Best of luck, and let us all know if we can help you find anything! Regards, Michael '92 500E '88 300TE (formerly) '83 Suzuki XN85 Turbo (nuthin' quite like a big 'ole dose of Boost!) |
I'm starting the project with a 1987 2.3-16v. It is US spec with 9.7 compression. I will have custom 8:1 pistons made by Wiseco. Also I plan to have an intercooler and crank fired SFI and individual spark control with knock control.

Hubba-hubba! Should go good...just how much boost can you run, with any degree of longevity??

I am hoping for about 16-18psi.
