124 rear suspension - tie rods

At what point should the tie rod links be replaced? The bushing "looks" good, and the ball joint boot is good too. I cannot feel excessive play, but it is a bit looser than new. How long do these last? Is it worth the $50-60/side to replace now? I have everything apart as part of a suspension rebuild (the thrust, torque, and camber arms and support joint were shot) and would prefer to change if its likely to go bad within 60000 miles/1 yr to save a trip to the alignment shop.

Thanks.

If they are not bent and not loose, there is no need to replace them.

Mine have gone 233,000 miles and are still straight and tight.

Good luck,

I checked with a mechanic this week, he said the same - they seem to last a VERY long time. That will save some money
