I have no idea what kind of leak problem you are having.. But I have never really seen any of the power steering stop leaks that really work.. If its the front seal on the pump just replace it.. If its a hose just replace it.. Unless you are going to get rid of the car.. other than the seal most power steering leaks are high pressure and little will stop those except if you fix them..

Prestone p.s. fluid works wonderfully!!!

My power steering box was leaking like a sieve. Every couple of days the reservoir in the pump would run dry if I was not careful. I tried every kind of fluid including MB fluid(very expensive) Nothing helped. One day I came across this Prestone Power Steering Fluid with Stop Leak. I figured what the hell. I bought 4 qt. bottles based on my leakage and still have three left. That's how fast it stopped the leak! That was a year ago and I drive a 100 miles or more a day. Absolutely no adverse effects art all. Go for it. Woody

Power Steering pump health care:

- Don't use ATF
- Replace the power steering filter
- Adjust the pump belt the way the factory recommends

I have rebuilt my P/S pump myself, before it was leaking a few drops a day.

To me the structure of MB's P/S pump is very simple, it's very tough inside. there isn't a thing that can be easily broken, after 220k Km, my P/S pump doesn't show any wear inside, but the front radial seal and rubber O rings are so bad that nearly every 400E I have seen leaked P/S fluid, also sometimes the hose (high pressure hose and reservior hose) connectors leak.

I took me a day to rebuild my P/S pump on my 400E, for none V8 W124s, it may be much easier.

I started using Valvoline SynPower PS fluid about a month ago, after leaking like crazy. I am on the second of three bottles and the leak has slowed noticeably, but not yet entirely. I expect it will stop soon.

On the other hand, with the weather cooler now, metal parts around the seals are contracting and could also be contributing to slowing the leak.

Someone stated in another thread that introducing some brake fluid into the PS system can produce some amazing results in stopping leaks. Anyone ever try this?
