repaint
You can get a descent paint job from one of the chain's if you or someone you know can do the majority of prep-work yourself (remove as much trim as possible,do some of your own masking, good sanding job, removal of contaminates, oils, sap, road debris) the chains do not spend much time in prep when they a painting a car for $200-$500 dollars.

3-4K isn't too bad as long as:
1. ALL trim panels, rubber weatherstrips, basically anything removable should be removed. NO MASKING TAPE! 2. The paint gets stripped as much as possible. 3. Multiple layers of poly (clear-coat) are sprayed. 4. The car is then wet sended, buffed, polished, waxed, and washed before you pick it up. I prefer spraying PPG paint. In my opinion PPG's products are the best.
