1991 300 Sl
I'm replacing the head gasket, which was seeping oil on my sl (97k). I marked both cams prior to removal. Do I need to reset everything to TDC, or will reinstalling the cams at the mark suffice, providing I haven't rotated the crank?
Does anyone know the torque specs for the head, cam, exhaust and intake? Anything special that I should know? Thanks, Lyndon Tilson |

tdc
tdc is the failsafe way of making sure you are back to where you are suppose to be Lyndon. There issuppose to be4 small "slits or marks on the cam shafts and holder that align to each other for correct TDC. If you are doing the exchange, you might also consider changing the timing chain. By aligning the sprockets and the cams to TDC, you will see if your chain has stretched already. Good luck
