need help from tech...or informed someone!
Well, heres another 126 climate control question...(searched for my qestion but found nothing conclusive) anyway, basiclly everything works fine with the A/C but now its getting a little cold and time for heat...but one problem even with the temp selecter on max and the push button on "EC" it still blows in fresh air through the A/C vents. It already has new vacuum flap control valves and all that good stuff along with a rebuilt push button panel, could the panel be devective? any ideas? Its like its stuck on air conditioning, the compressor even comes on when the "Norm" button is pressed even with the temp wheel on the hottest setting!
Thanks in advace...Scott L. |

The fact that you aren't switching center vent position bothers me. The common heater problem is the mono valve but it won't affect the decision that closes the center vent. if its making that decision wrong it likely will do others.
One aspect of your symptoms that is OK though is the compressor function. it comes on only by evep temp in the normal position (unless the outside temp is less than the cycling temp - say 40deg F). In other words A/C is functioning to dehumidfy the air even in with the setting at "85".

yes Steve, you are right, it doesnt switch the center vents closed...so are you thinking that it may be the push button panel? or something else? I appreciate your help...Thanks Scott L

On one of my cars I had, for lack of better description, an insensitive temp control. I use our house vacuum and cleaned the temp unit (this one on the ceiling). The whole system responded much more quickly to temp changes, including going from say Def to just cabin heat.
Maybe yours is dirty?

well, i tryed cleaning it...nothing...same ole same ole....but anyway, im wondering if it could be a combo of a compleatly messed up in car temp sensor and a mono valve? would that result in the simptoms? any advice? Anyone? Thanks Scott L.

I don't know what it IS, but I know what it ISN'T. It ISN'T your cabin temperature sensor. If you are still getting cold air out of the center vents despite the temp. wheel being set to the hottest setting, there's something else wrong other than the temperature sensor.
Seems to me it would either have to be the pushbutton control panel or a defective air door, but I am NOT a climate control expert. If you don't get more specific help, consider reposting with a more descriptive subject line.
