Door won't close
I hardly ever use my backdoors. One has been a little creaky. Well opened it wide and guess what....it refuses to close. It is stuck wide open. Thank God I was at home. It barely fit in the garage. Anyone know how to remedy? I'm pretty sure that I have to take apart the door. Thanks in advance.....

Sounds like the check strap seized. Between the hinges should be the check strap, may be under a rubber boot. Try oiling the strap and see if you can get the door closed. Inexpensive part and yes the inner panel needs to come off. There is a DIY article on how to replace the strap.

I had this problem on my 190E once. If wobbled it quite hard for a while and eventually it unseized. It's not been a problem since.
later! Russ

Well you guys were right, it was the door strap. I got some oil on it and about 5 minutes later it closed. It's still very rough. Is there supposed to be some sort of lubricant in that mechanism?
