Angry 1996 C180 Classic - immobiliser fault

I have an intermittent fault with immobiliser on '96 C180 Classic. Receiver unit in rear view mirror has been replaced three times in the past twelve months. The problem is that the immobiliser will not deactivate. It is a very annoying problem because I cannot trust the car for any lengthy journey as I have had to have it towed back to main dealer each time (at my own expense). Main dealer will not bypass immobiliser (even though I have been led to believe they can). It is "against Mercedes policy" is the answer I have been given to my requests. Can anybody help? All I want is to have this immobilising system (MBSS) bypassed. I have been a Mercedes fan for a long time, currently on my 4th Mercedes, but unless I can get this problem resolved it will be my last.

Desperate and almost broke C180 owner (BMW even starting to look good now).

Find another dealer!!
A reputable independant dealer will probably be more willing to spend the time DIAGNOSING and fixing the car. Receiver replaced 3 times in 12 months? I'm guessing they haven't been finding/looking for the root of the problem...

Whereabouts are you? England?
