86' 190e 2.3 8V fuel mixture adjustment
After installing a rebuild cylinder head, I noticed a high fuel consumption, also engine idles at 1200 in park and neutral, and
800 in gear positions. Before the cylinder head job I tempered with the fuel mixture adjustment and auxilary air valve. Can enyone tell me how to calibrate the auxilary air valve and fuel mixture. After correcting the problem with fuel mixture and air valve I want to check the ignition timing but my Haynes manual does not say at what rpm range it shall be set. Thank you in advance for your help. |

The only SURE way I see of adjusting this correctly is with the right equipment, which only the dealer has, if not, then a lot of trial and error. Thinking about it I would say that it would be very dangerous if either the idle speed and mixture is not set propperly, you don't have a know variable and with two unknowns, you might try to fix a bad mixture with idle speed and vice versa, could bring about very bad results, but if you feel up to it, then let us know how it turns out.
